The idea for this series began back in December 2015 when rumors of The Ranch House being demolished began to circulate. Everyone had great memories of this live music venue and the type of bands that took the stage there. In it’s hey day, The Ranch house was “the place” for rock n’roll. Every weekend they hosted capacity crowds to see bands, many of whom were on their way to being famous, such as The Cars and Aerosmith.
We wanted to somehow pay tribute to this historic live music venue on the South Shore – by getting some of the local bands that once took the stage there to come and play at The Jetty. We built a replica stage (on a much smaller scale), hung wagon wheels on the front of the building, rented a huge sound system, and booked five Bands with Ranch House experience to play over Patriots Day Weekend in 2016. It was a great event.
After the event, we were contacted by people, and more bands, that wanted to see it happen again, only on a bigger scale. In 2017, we expanded the schedule to every weekend in April and went from 5 bands to 11 bands. The 2017 bands included Boston/South Shore favorites such as Mark Morris and The Catunes and The Fat City Band, to some regional powerhouses such as The Fools, The Stompers and Aerosmith cover band, Draw The Line.
This year, April 2018, we have some special surprises.
Both acts andartifacts. With The Ranch House actually being demolished in December, 2017, we were able to secure some historical artifacts, as well as get the interest of a few acts that had previously been unavailable!
The line-up this year includes some returning Ranch House Revival favorites – Mark Morris & The Catunes, Clutch Grabwell, King Jeremy, The Fools, Fat City Band, The Drive as well as some new faces – Joshua Tree and Jim Plunkett.
What makes this experience unique, is the Jetty offers the opportunity to see these bands again in an intimate setting, and gives many a chance to remember the great live music, dancing and fun times they had at The Ranch House.
